And the Lord God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up early and sending, because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place. But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the Lord arose against his people, till there was no remedy. Therefore, he brought upon them the king of the Chaldeans, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion on young man or maiden, old man, or him who stooped for age; he gave all into his ahnd. And all the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king, and of his princes; all these he brought to Babylon. And they burned the house of God, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem, and burned all it's palaces with fire, and destroyed all it's precious vessels. And those who had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon, where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia, To fulfill the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbath; for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfill threescore and ten years.
You are living in this day of God's great grace. Think about it. You are in a spiritual battle as these residents of Jerusalem were. God's pity was eventually replaced by His wrath. King Zedekiah and the others who failed to fight the good fight in the spiritual battle fell in a physical battle. Babylonians killed them or turned them into slaves according to the will of God. If we lose the spiritual battle-the war with Satan in the unseen realm-we will lose everything. We live in two worlds-the material world we can perceive and the spiritual world we cannot see or touch.
2 Corinthians 4:18
While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
Some deny the existence of the spiritual and refuse to submit to their Maker. Without faith, they will eventually lose everything they *think* they have in the material world. They will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Philippians 2.5-11) but their belief will come too late to help them or their loved ones. Let us call on the lost to confess Him now before He returns and there is "no remedy" for those who have refused to hear Him.
Revelation 1:7
Behold, he cometh with clouds, and every eye shall see him; and they also who pierced him; and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
Let us be good soldiers:
Ephesians 6:10-20
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesha nd blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore, take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand, therefore, your loins girded about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness, And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, with which ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds; that in this I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
Let us thank God for this day of His grace!
2 Corinthians 5:1
For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
Prayer
Dear Lord,
We become entangled so often with this world and its fleeting desires. Open our eyes and our hearts, Lord. Help us to remember that this earth will pass away, but your words will never pass away. Guide us into making the spiritual battle the most important battle we fight. Thank you and praise you for your grace that continually washes us clean when we forget and fail! In the precious name of your Son, Amen
